Sr. Software Engineer
Responsibilities
Play a key role in the development and delivery of
complex business applications using Microsoft technology. Be the owner
for important business and technical infrastructure components used in
the MetraNet XML billing platform.
Requirements
5 years as a C++/C# developer
on Microsoft platforms, including Windows/2003. Should have in depth
experience in eliciting and understanding complex business requirements
and translating them into robust designs and implementations. Should
be very comfortable with Use Cases. Exposure to billing, accounting or
other financial applications is a very strong plus.
Must have excellent
object-oriented analysis, design and implementation skills. Should have
solid understanding of XML. Position requires deep knowledge of COM,
ATL/STL and NT threading models. Also requires hands-on experience with
Microsoft data access technologies, including ADO, OLEDB, ODBC and DTC.
Experience with MTS and/or COM+ transactional capabilities highly desirable.
Must have strong relational database fundamentals; experience with SQL
language on at least either SQL Server or Oracle is a requirement. Understanding
of the Microsoft .NET platform and development environment a very strong
plus. Good understanding of performance, scalability and reliability
characteristics of different design and implementation choices.
Must
possess excellent communication and leadership skills and enjoy working
as part of a cross-functional team.

Business Solutions Technical Manager (U.S. Pre-Sales)
Based in our Waltham, MA headquarters, the Business Solutions Technical Manager (BSTM) will be responsible for providing professional insight into business fit and technical and product support to the MetraTech sales team and implementation partners throughout the sales cycle.
As an active part of the team, the BSTM will have shared responsibility with the Sales Team for closing successful deals by facilitating and demonstrating solution requirements and fit, product and solution demonstrations, Proofs of Concept (POCs) and pre-sales technical meetings.
The BSTM will assist in business scope and design workshops and to customize, test and deploy MetraTech’s products under the Company’s project methodology in fulfillment of specific prospect, partner or market solution opportunities and needs. Further, the BSTM will be responsible for obtaining, analyzing and implementing customization and integration requirements as they relate to delivering the conceptual solution and the actual demonstration or reference implementation.
The BSTM is also responsible to correlate business value to technical function based on a solid understanding of MetraTech products’ technical features and business benefits. The BSTM is the principal MetraTech product expert in terms of configuring and demonstrating the MetraTech product suite to prospects and partners.
Other Responsibilities, Attributes & Activities:
- Desire to be proactive in learning about our and related technologies
- Keeping current on information and trends for billing and targeted industries
- Interpret technical issues into business needs; be the technical translator for the Sales Team
- Provide an ongoing bridge to product development for customer input on features and functionality
- Be able to do a technical assessment of the fit, and have a clear understanding of the business justifications and constraints – able to discern a “good” deal from a “bad” one
- Be able to create and deliver effective demos both in person and by audio/web /video conference.
- Be able to become a super-user of the MetraNet solution and create demos tailored for specific prospects, using GUIs provided with the platform and with MetraTech data creation tools.
- Desire to work proactively and collaboratively with the Sales Team and the technical teams at MetraTech
- Be able and willing to travel at least 50% of the time
- Be able to work under tight deadlines and effectively establish and communicate priorities
- Understand urgency – in this sales role, it will not always be possible to work as methodically as a technical person would like
- Be skilled at meeting facilitation and presentation. Audiences include business users/buyers (Finance, Sales, Marketing, Customer Care) and most importantly, technical users/buyers (IT, Operations, Systems Integrators)
- Understand how to prioritize issues and lines of enquiry to ensure requirements are clear, concise and can be accurately reflected and demonstrated
- Be able to listen carefully in customer meetings and adjust accordingly – in real-time
- Be able to actively keep technical meetings focused – knows when a tangent is just a tangent; have discipline to stick with an agenda and introduce perspective. Must be realistic; able to stay focused on what our product can actually do – not get into conversations that set expectations that can’t be met
- Able to see to the heart of a technical issue and know the real issue from technical “trip ups”
- Must be able to understand the differences between MetraTech’s solutions and those of the competition and track ongoing development from competitors
Requirements:
- Bachelors’ Degree (or equivalent), preferably in Engineering or Computer Science.
- 6 - 8 years’ experience as a BSTM, Business Solutions Manager, Pre-Sales or Technical Consultant in BSS/OSS.
- Well rounded industry knowledge (billing, telecom). Strong billing industry experience is a major plus.
- Crisp, clean, clear presentation skills, able to translate technical concepts to an often high level business audience as well as gain respect on the technical side of the house.
- Experience conducting fact finding and presentations using web & audio conferencing.
- Experience working on enterprise software product implementation projects (e.g., billing, CRM, ERP, etc.) and integrating BSS products with 3rd party / custom applications.
- Experience using C++ and/or C#, SQL programming. Knowledge / familiarity with XML, ASP, ASP.NET and Web Services and other Microsoft technologies. (.NET and/or COM, Windows 2003 Server, SQL Server and IIS).
- Ability to self-manage and maintain your own schedule, multi-task and work through problems.
- Strong interpersonal and excellent communication skills and enjoy working as part of a cross-functional Sales Team spanning multiple time zones.
- Fluent in additional languages besides English is a plus.

Project Administrator
Provide assistance to the Professional Services Group related to the financial/contractual/adminstrative aspects of projects. Serve as a liaison between the Project Manager and client staff. Primary duties will include: proposal preparation; tracking of proposals and client authorization documents, tracking project/task budgets against actual and expected expenditures; ensuring compliance with internal and external requirements/deadlines related to the administrative/financial/contractual aspects of projects; tracking costs vs. budget; running and distribution of reports, updating project workspaces, collection and entry of project data, and preparing and distributing documents for Executive meetings.
Experience Requirements:
1-3 years of administrative experience supporting multiple people in a fast paced technology environment; previous experience as a project administrator or coordinator preferred.
Skills Requirements:

Senior Technical Writer
MetraTech is seeking a productive, talented, and experienced individual who is comfortable working with developers in an innovative engineering environment that is maintaining and developing an industry-leading billing platform.
Position
You will be the second member of a two-member team, reporting directly to the VP of Development.
Responsibilities
Play a key role in the development and delivery of a multifaceted documentation set targeted to configuration developers, system integrators, billing managers and operators, customer service representative, and ultimately subscribers. You will play a role in all phases of the doc process: from working with feature teams on design docs though the development milestones to the final release and published doc set.
Requirements
- At least 5 years solid technical writing, including proven API doc experience.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- Comfortable working as part of a cross-functional team (participating with engineers and QA group, among others).
- High comfort level with installing and configuring Windows systems and software.
- Must be good at thinking through and solving problems that users are likely to encounter.
- Self-directed: Able to test and try things out for yourself.
Skills
- Able to write clear, concise. effective descriptions and instructions tailored to audience.
- Able to rework and re-factor legacy documentation.
- Able to read XML and at least one programming language.
