Computerworld Honors MetraTech with Innovative
Technology Award Leading IT News Publication Cites Software Company's
Success In Helping Customers Achieve Business Payback WALTHAM, Mass., October 1, 2002 - MetraTech, a leading provider of billing, customer care and revenue sharing software, today announced it was awarded Computerworld's Innovative Technology Award. Customers submitted nominations citing a company whose technology produces tremendous benefits for them. As one of only 10 winners, MetraTech was honored as a vendor offering cutting-edge technology that's creating quantifiable business value for its customers. ACT Teleconferencing, Inc. (Nasdaq: NM-ACTT), an independent worldwide provider of audio, video and web-based conferencing products and services, is a prime example of how MetraTech's cutting edge Web services-based billing, customer care and revenue sharing technology is helping customers solve business problems and cut costs. MetraTech partnered with ACT to meet the complex challenge of billing for multipoint conferencing. Using MetraNetÔ, ACT was able to consolidate billing for 20 domestic and international call centers; shrink billing cycles from 30 days to one, increasing cash flow; recoup its investment in 18 to 24 months; and save "a couple of million dollars a year" through improved billing accuracy, eliminating re-billing and having a smaller support staff. According to Computerworld, evaluations of the nominated companies were based on the following criteria:
"It's an honor that Computerworld and their independent panel recognized the quantifiable business value that our billing software delivers to our customers," said Scott Swartz, president and CEO of MetraTech. "Our mission has always been to solve our customers' billing problems in the fastest, most efficient way possible. Our Web services-based architecture allows both emerging and established service providers, like ACT, to reduce integration challenges by leveraging existing infrastructure, speed time-to-market for new services and dramatically lower total cost of ownership and improve profitability." The profile on MetraTech and ACT was featured
in the magazine's Sept. 23 issue. It is also available on the Web at:
