MetraTech Completes Groundbreaking Benchmark Waltham, MA and London, England July 31 2006 MetraTech Corp., the leading provider of Web Services-based billing, customer self-care and partner management, has successfully completed a groundbreaking benchmark at the Hewlett-Packard European Performance Center in Boeblingen, Germany. Conducted over the week of 19th — 23rd June 2006, MetraTech, in conjunction with Hewlett Packard, demonstrated the unique combination of the MetraNet business processing engine and the leading HP telecommunications server solutions to comfortably process over 60 Million CDR’s (Call Detail Records) per hour utilising less than 50% processor capacity. The benchmark tested the MetraNet 5.0 solution on a single rx8640 server (16 x Itanium II, 1.6 GHz, 9 Mb cache, 16 Core) with Microsoft SQL Server and 9 parallel HP DL 380 servers (2 Xeon Dual Processor, 2.8 GHz, 4 Core) with MetraNet Business Processing engines. In tests processing over 30 Million CDR’s for over 6.2 Million subscribers with over 500 Million CDR’s of history, HP and MetraTech established that 16,849 CDR’s per second could be guided, rated and persisted in Microsoft SQL Server. Critically, 16,849 CDR’s per second were processed on less than 50% of CPU on the rx8640 and less than 30% of CPU on the DL 380’s leaving ample room to ensure high availability and fail over ready configurations. These results are particularly impressive as MetraNet rating and guiding persists each event after and before rating to provide best in class auditing and the ability to rapidly and efficiently reprocess any event at any time. Measured in terms of transactions per core per second, HP and MetraNet verified best in class cost efficiencies of over 1,000 TPS/Core. Moreover, tests showed that at a minimum the HP and MetraTech solutions scales in a near linear manner up and down with the number of CPU’s. For instance, scaling from 14,768 TPS at 15.04 utilised cores, to 16,849 TPS at 17.4 utilised cores. Commented Doug Zone, chief technology officer of MetraTech Corp., “the benchmarks tested the entire MetraNet rating process. Many such exercises test only a part of the process but in so doing, outcomes are of limited value to the operator. What matters is performance across the complete process from event importation and guiding to tariffing, pricing, and storage ready for billing." Mark Dudman SVP of Engineering and Technical Operations added “this benchmark reflects MetraTech’s continued drive for product excellence, cutting edge functionality and industry leading performance. I am proud of the entire team’s efforts in bringing the Version 5.0 product release to market and achieving these groundbreaking performance numbers.” The results of this benchmark support HP's role in delivering superior performance and reliability with the HP Integrity server line. HP is the only vendor offering both large scale-out solutions with many small blade or rack dense servers and impressive scale-up solutions with up to 64 cores running MS SQL server and Windows Server 2003. This enables MetraTech to tailor its product architecture exactly to meet customers’ needs. Concluded Scott Swartz, chief executive officer, MetraTech Corp.. “The completion of the testing with Hewlett Packard proves that the Web Services-based MetraNet solution is scalable to the carrier-class needs of leading service providers. MetraTech has an industry leading reputation as an enabler of innovative strategies, and with the results from this testing we are positioned to lead the billing market in its next phase of growth."
