In his new role, Zone will be responsible for technical direction and product strategy at MetraTech. Two MetraTech deployments won World Billing Awards in 2005 and has been nominated a finalist for a further three awards, including Best Overall, at the Billing Systems 2006 event in London next week. Zone will be attending the conference in his new role.

Doug comments: “Joining MetraTech as chief technology officer gives me the opportunity to define not just the development of a product, but a new direction for the billing market. MetraNet’s core architecture sets a new standard; it delivers innovative business models with enterprise class ruggedness, putting the service provider in the driver’s seat in intuitively, securely and cost-effectively supporting rapidly evolving market needs and business models. I look forward to working with my colleagues in the industry in revolutionizing how business cases are built for new marketing and billing models.”

Added Scott Swartz, chief executive officer, MetraTech Corp.: “I am delighted that someone of Doug’s stature and experience has chosen to join our company. His arrival underlines what we are able to deliver; the benefits of true Service Oriented Architecture.”

Concluded Swartz: “Our recent awards nominations, significant wins such as those at Echostar and Swisscom Mobile and the successful completion of our TMF sponsored IPTV Catalyst demonstration have together pushed MetraTech to the fore in recent months.
