MetraTech integrates MetraNet in support of Swisscom-led IPTV catalyst project at Telemanagement World, Nice

Wednesday April 12, 2006, Waltham, MA - MetraTech Corp. has announced its participation in The Telemanagement Forum’s Catalyst project “IPTV Impact on Fulfillment, Assurance, and Billing (FAB).” This is one of several such projects in which TMF member organizations collaborate to advance the framework of next generation OSS.

The IPTV Catalyst is being lead by Swisscom, which is about to launch its own IPTV service. In doing so, its basic offerings portfolio will be enriched with advanced services. To meet the new implementation challenges these require of its existing OSS/BSS system, Swisscom’s project sets out to explore the benefits of the NGOSS framework.

The Catalyst project will ultimately demonstrate how Swisscom’s current environment can be leveraged with NGOSS design principles. The findings from the project will then become an input for the validation and enhancement process of existing NGOSS models.

Companies participating in the Catalyst include: Swisscom, Wipro, Metratech Corp., C-Vidya, Tigerstripe, Nakina Systems, Syndesis, and Tata Consultancy Services. MetraTech will contribute expertise in the areas of billing, charging, rating, and settlement.

Outcomes and demonstrations from the IPTV Catalyst will be presented at The TeleManagement Forum’s TeleManagement World conference in Nice, May 15-18, 2006. Members of all participating companies will be on hand to answer questions.

"We are delighted to be sponsoring the “IPTV impact on the FAB” Catalyst project. The team is already doing excellent work developing new BSS/OSS overlay architectures using NGOSS standards. These are critical for enabling innovative new services to be efficiently rolled out," says David Watrin, Billing Area Manager at Swisscom Innovations.

Adds Scott Swartz, ceo, Metratech Corp.: “By incorporating IPTV initiated, on-demand song downloads into the catalyst project, Swisscom has demonstrated that IPTV can be used as a sales channel and that their vision goes well beyond a standard triple-play offering.” Swartz added: “MetraTech is pleased to provide the NGOSS compliant billing, rating and settlement components for this innovative project.”
