MetraTech accepts two prestigious industry awards as market moves to acknowledge benefits of metadata-driven approach to billing

London, UK, December 8, 2005 – MetraTech Corp., the leading provider of Web Services-based billing, customer self-care and partner management, has been presented with two prestigious 2005 World Billing Awards at IIR's Next Generation Billing conference in Madrid.

The awards, first announced earlier this year, were presented to MetraTech's Vice President, Global Sales and Business Development, Vladimir Mitrasinovic at a gala ceremony in the Spanish capital.

The 'Best Billing and Partner Management for a Non-Voice Service' award was given to Swisscom Eurospot for its MetraNet billing and partner management deployment. This deployment implements a custom-negotiated, dynamically weighted and derivatively calculated hotspot commissioning model. A case study of the implementation was presented at the conference by Mitrasinovic. The same deployment also garnered the 'Best Billing and Partner Management for a Non-Voice Service' award.

Underlining the significance of the awards, Hugh Roberts, consultant director of BSS/OSS events at IIR Telecoms and chairman of the Judging Panel observed that competition had been fierce and Metratech's victory in not one but two categories had therefore been particularly noteworthy. He added that the judges believed that the "metadata-driven approach represents a significant development in billing methodology and is highly compatible with the evolving role of billing systems to cover end-to-end financial transaction management."

Accepting the award for MetraTech, Mitrasinovic observed: "it's not only gratifying to be recognized by our peers and colleagues but also to see the market so receptive to new ideas. The simple fact that a metadata-driven billing solution has been recognized in this way, and on the basis of the benefits it's delivered to a user, suggests that there is a real acceptance that a new approach is needed to solve many of the industry's challenges."

In addition to winning these awards, the MetraNet implementation for Premiere Global Services Inc. was the runner up for the 'Best CRM/Customer Care Offered' award.

The World Billing Awards were introduced by IIR, the Institute for International Research, to reward billing best practices and help raise awareness of the significance of the billing process. Now in their 9th year, these awards are widely regarded as the highest industry recognition of billing excellence.
